Meet Our Team

Chelsea Cash

Director of Admissions

Chelsea Cash is the Admissions Representative and has been in the position since 2020. Chelsea is determined to help others reach their goals, and work towards building the life of their dreams. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Business Administration from Portland State University. Throughout her time in college she recognized her passion for helping others grow and develop within their careers, which is exactly what she gets to do through the admissions process. Chelsea loves engaging in new student outreach and cheering on our artists throughout their time at Summit Salon Academy.

Mikey Denton

Educator

Mikey Denton dove head first into hair in 2009 at Phagans School of Beauty in Portland, Oregon. He quickly discovered that he had a passion for hair design and graduated by April of 2011, with the goal to educate and do platform work. Since then Mikey has worked in both the salons and barbershops around Portland. He opened his own business, Brick & Mortar in June of 2015. During that time he worked as a global educator in the United States and Australia in 2018 with the Loreal brand, Baxter of California. His interests are scissor & clipper techniques as well as styling. He has a  “why” and “how” approach in educating. Mikey enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys, listening to podcasts, and watching anything hair related. Favorite quote by Yureesh Hooker “I can lay the pavement but I cannot move your feet”

 

Tanya Smith

Educator

Tanya Smith has been an Educator for Summit Salon Academy since 2015. Beginning her career in the industry in Tampa, Florida, Tanya relocated to Portland Oregon in 2020 where she joined the Summit Salon Academy PDX team. Tanya is licensed in Hair design, Nail Technology, Esthetics and is a Redken Color certified artist. Her learning environment style promotes fun, growth and support while teaching the fundamentals and current trends in the industry. Tanya’s passion for education and her dedication to our artists extends beyond the Academy as she mentors them to success in their life.

Taylor Eikanas

Educator

Taylor Eikanas is a 2016 graduate of Summit Salon Academy Portland. After graduation Taylor completed an apprenticeship under a master stylist while growing her own clientele as a hairstylist. She currently works at Studio Luxe in the Pearl District of Portland, with a focus on hair cutting and coloring. Taylor is an Oregon native who loves local art, spending time in nature, and snuggling up with her dog. Her fresh approach to education and the industry helps guide students through the process of learning the art of hair, skin and nails as well as understanding the importance of a strong business mind.

Tracy

Operations Manager

Tracy Paramo has been a licensed practitioner since 1989. With over 30 years of experience, Tracy has seen first-hand every possible salon situation including hourly, commission, booth lease, and salon ownership. From 1997-2012, Tracy was self-employed in a successful salon in Dallas, Texas. Having fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest, she finally decided to make the move here in 2012. Upon moving to Portland, she procured her Oregon licenses in Hair Design, Esthetics, and Nail Technology, as well as her Educator’s license. Tracy has spent time here working as both a stylist and Front Desk Coordinator, however, she found a new vehicle for her passion when she began educating.  She is currently the Director of Operations at Summit Salon Academy Portland. Her dedication to the industry is showcased by her commitment to supporting new service providers with essential knowledge to be successful. Tracy says, “We need to encourage more truth about this industry. All too often service providers sell themselves short. Operate with integrity, charge your worth, continue to educate yourself and you will see great success.”

Mario

Director of Financial Aid

Mario Paramo is the Financial Aid Director and has been in the position since 2016. Mario has a Bachelor’s degree of Education from the University of North Texas. He moved to Portland in 2012, and before his employment with the Academy Mario secured a position with a non profit organization working with at-risk youth. This further developed his dedication to education. He understands the importance of responsibly financing our artist’s education so that they graduate ready to succeed. When Mario is not tackling financial aid numbers and regulations, he spends his time reading, playing video games and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.

Josh

Educator

Josh Means is the Lead Educator at Summit Salon Academy Portland and has been here through the transition from Phagans Beauty School, of which Josh graduated in 2010. He spent over 2 years employed by Super Cuts and worked his way into management. While substitute teaching for Phagans Josh found his calling in education and spends his days coaching others to follow their passion.  Josh is licensed in hair, skin and nails and has obtained certifications in Matrix hair color, Bellami hair extensions, Muse makeup and lash extensions. In his free time Josh likes to spend time with his husband of five years and his fur babies.

Nissa

Educator

Nissa Ford has been a licensed service provider since 2013, working in Arizona, California and now Oregon. She is so passionate about our industry and education. Nissa has been a product educator and has extended her education with certifications in extensions, Brazilian blowouts, and keratin treatments. She is always learning new techniques and bringing that knowledge to the Academy to share with our artists. Nissa is an energetic and enthusiastic team member that keeps our environment positive and fun.

Sandie Griffith-Jordan

Educator

Sandie has been in the hair industry since 1999.  She realized early on that beauty was a profession she could be passionate about for many years.  In doing so she found a wonderful way to acquire new knowledge about fashion trends and techniques well ahead of her peers in the Pacific Northwest.  Sandie spends 3 days a week at Annastasia Salon working on guests capitalizing on a successful career behind the chair.  She spends 2 days a week at the school overseeing our long term curriculum strategy and supporting our educators.  Her wealth of experience brings a deep level of awesome to our technical education strategy.

Chris Huffstutter

School Director

As a fourth generation Huffstutter in the beauty business, Chris brings a ton of management and for-profit school experience to our Academy.  With one of the biggest hearts in the world, the students and staff can count on being led with their future as the greatest priority.  Whether you are a student or a guest, Chris is here to answer any questions and ensure your experience is top-notch.

Keith Huffstutter

Director of Salon Relations

Keith has spent 35 years coaching & mentoring high performance teams with a focus towards consistent and sustainable accelerated sales growth.  Keith’s last 3 years, as part of the L’Oréal Drive Salon Success Team was spent collaborating with Salon Companies, Service Providers, & Salon Centric growing sales & income for all stakeholders. He has been awarded District Sales Goal Achiever, Divisional Sales Goal Achiever, President’s Award Winner, & Presidents Club Award Winner.

Keith believes all beauty industry professionals deserve the opportunity to achieve their highest level of success and has a commitment to raise the value of Service Providers in the local communities we mutually serve.
